Hematology

Hematology tests are performed on the blood producing organs, blood and blood proteins etc. This examines various conditions of blood which includes blood infections, issues related to blood clotting, hemophilia, anemia, leukemia, inflammation and how body reacts to chemotherapy process.

CBC (Complete Blood Count) is a common test in hematology which is done in routine to detect problems related to disorders in immune system, issues in blood clotting, anemia problem, blood infections and blood cancer problems.

Biochemistry

Clinical Biochemistry is the unit of laboratory medicine which basically finds out presence of chemicals in urine, blood and other fluids of body. These chemicals can be of both types either natural or unnatural. With the help of test results, doctors can detect about any problems related to health, which can be further helpful in diagnosis the problem and then they can guide the patient about any therapy/medicines.

Endocrinology

Basically Endocrinological tests are done to test the hormones levels in the person’s body. It is useful to check the reason of any problem related to endocrinology and it can also be verified that the endocrine glands are working properly or not. Various medical problems like growth issues, disorders in the hormone-producing adrenal glands and pituitary glands, thyroid diseases, osteoporosis, diabetes, metabolic disorders, infertility and some type of cancers also can be diagnosed and treated on the basis of these test results.

Histopathology

Histopathology is used to study and diagnose the diseases of the tissues and also it examines cells/tissues by using a microscope. Usually it is carried out under the observation of expert pathologists and the process involves a biopsy which is basically a procedure that involves taking a small sample of tissue. These tests must be carried out under expert’s supervision and with complete care & precautions. We, at Dr. Mittal Path lab follow strict guidelines/protocols while doing Histopathology tests.

Common Histopathology tests

Cytology

Cytology is basically an analysis of single cell type which generally found in fluid specimens. These tests are generally carried out to diagnose or check for cancer, for screening of fetal diseases, to detect infection in organisms and to diagnose or detect some other diseases.

Common Histopathology tests

Molecular Biology

In Molecular Biology, lab tests are performed to detect/identify some type of proteins, genes or other molecules in blood/tissue sample or in other body fluids. These tests are performed to detect some changes a chromosome/gene which may lead to develop diseases like cancer or any other harmful cells/disease in the body.

Generally, study of molecular & biochemical processes within cells is done in Molecular biology and more specifically processes of RNA transcription, protein and DNA replication are done in this. Very often these processes are performed/followed by DNA Forensics team to identify accident victims and to find out the suspect’s involvement/presence at any crime scene.

Immunology

Diagnostic analysis of blood which employs antibodies (immunoglobulins) & antigens (foreign proteins) to detect abnormalities in the immune system are performed in Immunology. The ability of body to produce antibodies when challenged by antigens decides the Immunity level of the person.

Basically, to detect any kind of disorder in immunity, these tests are performed which include Blood tests. On the basis of blood tests, level of blood cells & immunity level of any person can be verified/tested and it can be checked that if a person have normal level of infection-fighting proteins (immunoglobulin) in the blood.

Microbiology

These types of clinical tests are performed under microbiology which generally used to identify & keep an eye on every aspect of infection in body like fungal, bacterial, parasitic agents and viral. It is basically used to determine the susceptibility of microorganisms to various antimicrobial agents.

In Microbiology, A blood culture is a test that checks for foreign invaders like bacteria, yeast, and other microorganisms in person’s blood. Having these pathogens in the bloodstream can be a sign of a blood infection. A positive blood culture indicates that person have bacteria in the blood.
